Oil prices to take bite out of summer travel

@cnnmoney -- NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Rising gas prices are likely to curb summer travel plans for both vacationers and business travelers, according to a trade group's survey.
The U.S. Travel Association said Tuesday that its survey of 2,500 households conducted earlier this month found 44% said the higher gas prices would cause them to take fewer vacation trips this summer, while 37% said they would take shorter trips. Some people said they would do both.

Gas here has gone from about $3 in late January to $3.87 today - $14 increase per fill up. Experience for us has been that once you hit the road gas prices are even higher than home - and many places are well over $4/gal now. Truth is you'll get more bang for your buck doing things in town.

Will have absolutely no effect for us. We already budgeted for $4. gas. It will add like $35 to the cost of driving. I'll buy fewer plastic crap items from China at Walmart to make up the difference. Will have almost no effect on the economy.

Nothing new. These prices have been taking a bite out of travel for quite some time now.

In the former Soviet Union, people could not travel from one city to another without proper papers. The Republicans will accomplish the same thing through high gasoline prices.
